Former Hawk, Ange Lekkas, saw a need to educate young teens in best practice football techniques for success, thereby developing the Footy Specialist Coaching Academy in 2008.
Ange personally runs the Footy Specialist Coaching Academy sessions, which are structured to ensure that kids receive the appropriate footy development opportunities suitable for their age and ability, whilst also having a lot of fun.
Our programs are suitable for boys aged between 12-15 years who love footy, are currently registered with a junior football club and are looking to further develop their skills with a specialist coach. The sessions are run for small groups so as to offer individual attention and focus the training sessions on  each individual’s needs.
The classes are streamed to place players of similar skill and age together to ensure you get the best out of the program. Conducted over eight weeks, FSCA covers a different aspect of professional football coaching each week so you will see improvement across the board as well as learning new skills to develop areas that need improvement.
Each class runs for an hour, and Ange is assisted by a conditioning coach on field and other specialist coaches off field to focus on the physical and psychological aspects of becoming a great player. We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to be coached outside of the program for accelerated results (see Specialist Coaching page for further information).
Ange Lekkas played AFL for Hawthorn at a senior level for 12 years (1994 to 2005), being inducted in to the AFL 200 Club at the end of his career. Starting as a defender, Ange progressed in to a key mid-fielder and forward, developing superior all round skills that translated in to superior on-ground knowledge at the elite level.
In 2006, Ange was awarded the position of AFL Multicultural Ambassador, encouraging youngsters of diverse backgrounds to embrace the game of Australian Football. He also ran football programs in South Africa for Game Development (AFL) in 2007, continuing his involvement in youth communities for the AFL. |
